Professional tennis can be broken up into three levels
- Futures Tour
- Challenger Tour
- ATP Tour
Futures Tour
The futures tour is what one could call the battleground of professional tennis. It’s the lowest level of pro tennis which contains all types of players like young players starting out or older players trying to break back in to the higher levels. It’s brutal as it’s not a financially stable place to be and many players must give up on pro tennis due to money.
Challenger Tour
What could be called the middle ground, this is where many players who can’t consistently play on the ATP tour play. More stable financially, many players who play at this level for a few years can earn a decent living
ATP Tour
This is the top level of Tennis where tournaments like Wimbledon are held. Usually consists of players ranked in the top 150 in the world full of only the best players in the world.
